Assam Board of Wakfs
Registration No. 17/1959

The Anowaruddin Wakf Estate was established through the voluntary dedication of property by Moulvi Syed Anowaruddin for religious and charitable purposes. Rather than retaining the property as his personal possession, he dedicated it as a Wakf, thereby placing it in perpetual dedication to God and ensuring that it would continue to serve the community for generations to come.

At the time of its establishment, the Wakf comprised a mosque and his residence, together covering approximately two bighas of land. Following the establishment of the Assam Board of Wakfs in 1958, the Wakf was duly registered with the Board under Registration No. 17/1959.

Our work

Faith expressed through service.

The Anowaruddin Wakf Estate is committed to serving society through a range of community welfare and educational initiatives. While the mosque within the Estate is a private mosque and does not accept donations for its maintenance or activities, contributions received from well-wishers are utilized for the welfare of those who are most in need.

Our social welfare initiatives extend support to orphanages, madrassas, widows, and economically disadvantaged individuals and families. Through these efforts, we strive to provide meaningful assistance and contribute towards building a caring and supportive community.

Education & academic support

We believe that education is one of the most effective means of empowering individuals and creating better opportunities for the future. As part of our community initiatives, we provide tuition support to students in various subjects, helping students strengthen their academic foundation and pursue their educational goals.

Counselling & personal support

We recognise that people may face challenges that go beyond financial difficulties. The Anowaruddin Wakf Estate also provides counselling and guidance to individuals seeking support with personal, educational, or other challenges. Through a caring and supportive approach, we aim to provide a safe space where individuals can seek guidance, address their concerns, and move forward with greater confidence.

Skill development & empowerment

We also organize skill development programmes designed to equip individuals with practical knowledge and useful skills. By encouraging learning, self-reliance, and personal development, these programmes seek to improve opportunities for individuals and help them become more economically independent.

An enduring purpose

From one generation to the next.

The history of the Anowaruddin Wakf Estate is ultimately a story of faith, foresight, service, and continuity. What began in the late 1930s as a mosque alongside a residence grew into a formally established Wakf, creating a lasting institution rooted in religious service and community welfare.

The decision of Moulvi Syed Anowaruddin to dedicate his property as Wakf ensured that its purpose would continue beyond his lifetime. Through successive generations of Mutawallis, this responsibility has been carried forward with the preservation of the Estate and its objectives at its core.

Today, the Anowaruddin Wakf Estate represents a legacy built over generations — one that reflects the enduring values of faith, service, community welfare, and responsible stewardship, while looking towards the future with the same sense of purpose with which it was established.
